Its popularity was such that it literally saturated the country in the early 1960's In fact, soon after appearing, it became part of an effort to replace “The U.S. Air Force” as the official service song. Though unsuccessful, the popularity of the song remains and it is performed regularly by various units of The U.S. Air Force Band.
